Former Manchot scholar Eva Alexandra Jakob has been Junior Professor for Social Entrepreneurship since 1 September 2021

On 1 September 2021, former Manchot scholar Prof. Dr Eva Alexandra Jakob took up a tenure-track junior professorship at W3 on social entrepreneurship at the University of Bayreuth.

Eva Alexandra Jakob completed her dissertation on the role of social responsibility in existing and emerging companies at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf in 2019 as part of the Manchot Graduate School "Competitiveness of Young Enterprises". As part of the graduate programme, Ms Jakob completed a research stay at the Copenhagen Business School at the Center for Corporate Social Responsibility in 2017.

Scholarships to be awarded from late summer 2021 - application process closed

The Jürgen Manchot Foundation has decided to continue funding the Manchot Graduate School on "Competitiveness of Young Enterprises". The graduate school is located in the Business Administration Department of the Faculty of Economics at Heinrich Heine University. The foundation will provide a total of almost 1.2 million euros from 01.04.2022 to 31.12.2025. This will finance ten doctoral scholarships and two post-doctoral positions. The spokespersons of the graduate school, Univ.-Prof. Dr Eva Lut and Univ.-Prof. Dr Stefan Süß is pleased about the funding: "We thank the Jürgen Manchot Foundation very much for its generous commitment and see the continuation of the funding as a confirmation of our work in the two previous funding periods."

In the third funding period, research will also be conducted on specific issues relating to young companies. Intensive supervision of the fellows, the specific course programme, the regular research colloquia and, in particular, the three-month stay abroad will continue to contribute significantly to the fellows and post-docs outstanding professional and personal development. The Graduate School thus makes a significant contribution to raising the profile of the Faculty of Economic Sciences and the Heinrich Heine University.

Editor's volume "Competitiveness of Start-ups - Successful Düsseldorf Companies" published

On May 5th, 2020 the editors' volume with the title "Competitiveness of Start-ups - Successful Düsseldorf Companies" was published by the publisher Düsseldorf University Press (dup).
The development of ten successful start-ups from foundation to competitiveness is traced in this volume. The focus is on specific decisions made by the founders and factors that have significantly influenced the success of the company. The ten case studies, developed by the 1st cohort of the Manchot Graduate School "Competitiveness of Young Companies", show the diversity and dynamism of the Düsseldorf start-up scene.
